Activities & Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and monitor servers for many clients in multiple locations in the NYC area including central hosting facility
- Ensure corporate and client environments are operational and available on a 24/7 basis
- System performance analysis and tuning
- Responsible for day-to-day maintenance including user account management and security, data backup and recovery, installation of systems and software, installation of system patches, and collaborating with team members on issue resolutions
- Document systems, configurations, and operational instructions
- Develop proposals for recommending upgrades for software/hardware
- Plan for sizing and scaling of servers
- Servers: UNIX, Linux, NT/2000 Servers, VMware
- Software: JBOSS, Borland Enterprise Server, WebSphere, Apache, Qmail, SMTP, djbdns, BIND, MS Exchange , Back Exec, Arcserver, Veritas, Tivoli
- Databases: Oracle, DB2, MSSQL, MySQL
- Cisco Networks: Catalyst, LD, PIX
Skills/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 5 years related experience
- Expertise in UNIX, Linux and Windows hardware/software troubleshooting techniques and enterprise infrastructure support
- Knowledge and/or experience in LAN's, WAN's, and security is also required
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related discipline, or the equivalent in training and experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
